How to set up events and set menus

Quiz nights, Sunday roasts, Christmas parties and New Year dinners all work better when guests book a place for that night, with the price and menu agreed up front.

Quick answer. Open Events and menus in the left menu. Add a set menu first, then add an event and pick the menu. Events, set menus and pre-orders are on the Pro plan.

Step 1: add a set menu

  1. In the left menu, under Events and money, click Events and menus.
  2. Scroll to Add a set menu. Give it a Name such as Christmas menu, and a Price a head if you want one.
  3. In Courses, write one line per course, with the dishes separated by a bar. For example: Starters: Soup of the day | Prawn cocktail | Pate.
  4. Leave Available for pre-orders ticked, then press Save menu.

Step 2: add the event

  1. At the top, find Add an event.
  2. Fill in the Name, Date and Times, and the Capacity (covers).
  3. Add a Price a head and a Deposit a head if you want them. A deposit needs Deposits set up first.
  4. Choose your menu under Set menu for pre-orders.
  5. Keep Show on the booking page ticked.
  6. Tick Close normal table bookings for this date and time only if the night takes the whole place over. Leave it off for a Sunday roast that runs alongside normal dining.
  7. Press Save event.

Each event is on one date, so add one for every night. Use Edit to change it, Bookings to see who is coming, or Remove to take it down. Existing bookings stay if you remove an event.

Step 3: ask big parties to pre-order

Under Set menus and pre-orders, tick Ask big parties to pre-order from a set menu and choose the party size. Those guests get a link in their confirmation email to pick their dishes, and the kitchen sees the totals. Press Save.
