Order and Pay vs other ways to take orders

There are lots of ways to let customers order: the phone, a QR menu, a delivery marketplace, or ordering built into your till. Here is what to look at, and where Nabsie Order and Pay fits.

Quick answer. Phone orders cost nothing but take staff time. Marketplace apps bring new customers and often charge per order. Till based ordering suits venues that want everything in one system. Order and Pay is a flat monthly price with no per order fee, and the card fees go to your payment provider. Check what each option charges before you choose.

The main options

  • Phone and walk up orders. No cost, but it ties up staff and mistakes happen on busy nights.
  • A QR code menu with no payment. Customers read the menu, then still order at the bar. Cheap and simple.
  • Delivery marketplaces. They can bring in customers who have not met you. Many charge a commission or fee per order, so check the current terms, and ask who owns the customer details.
  • Ordering from your till provider. Neat if you already use that till. Ask about monthly fees and whether it works for table, collection and delivery.
  • Your own ordering page. Customers order and pay directly with you. This is where Order and Pay sits.

What Order and Pay is

  • Customers scan a QR code at the table, or order ahead for collection or delivery, and pay on their phone.
  • Orders appear on your kitchen and bar screens.
  • Delivery has a postcode radius you set.
  • Payments go through Stripe, PayPal, SumUp or Square, paid straight to you.
  • £10 a month on top of Pro, or £19.99 a month on its own with no tables. The first 14 days are free, and each subscription is for one venue.
  • No fee per order and no commission. Your payment provider charges its usual card fee.

How to choose

  1. Decide what you want to sell. Table service, collection, delivery, or all three?
  2. Ask each option what it charges per order. Include commission, per order fees, monthly fees and card fees.
  3. Ask who owns the customer. Can you see and keep their details, or does the provider hold them?
  4. Check how orders reach the kitchen. A screen, a printer or a phone call make very different evenings.
  5. Try the free trial. Order and Pay starts with 14 days free from your dashboard. If you do not keep it, it switches itself off.

If you would only be using it for a few orders a week, a simpler option may be enough. If you take a lot of orders, a flat monthly price is easier to plan for. Work it out for your own numbers.
